Boris Statsenko's unique voice is called a «Verdi baritone» in Europe. Since the 90s the singer has made a dazzling career for himself in the West.
His departure was preceded by years of work in the Boris Pokrovsky Chamber Music Theater, in the Bolshoi Theater, where Boris Statsenko performed more than 10 parts. Currently he is a soloist of the Düsseldorf Opera Theater, performing on the greatest stages of Hamburg, Dresden, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, and other cultural capitals of the world, with a repertoire of over fifty operas.
For the Moscow public, Boris Statsenkos return was marked by the magnificent performance of the part of Napoleon in Bolshoi Theater's new sensational project: S. Prokofievs opera War and Peace. The Russian tour continued in his native Chelyabinsk, where he appeared in Tosca, and in the Shalyapin festival in Kazan (Aida, Nabucco, and gala concerts).
As the singer admits, Italy occupies a special place in his creative biography. Boris Statsenko is a regular participant in the provincial festival in Lucca (Italy), and has sung in Venice, Turin, Padua, and Rimini in such «hit» operas as «La Forza de Destino, Tosca, Rigoletto, Bohemian Girl, Tannhäuser, Iolanta, and Pique Dame» in ensembles with practically all of Italy's most renowned soloists. Statsenko believes that Russia has yet to hear the best Italian voices, and intends to rectify the situation.
Singers whose voices have conquered the world, yet have not yet «arrived» in Russia, as well as the «opera youth» of Italy will be presented in a new artistic project together with renowned Italian base Luigi Roni. In November of last year Boris Statsenko brought to Chelyabinsk his partners from the renowned La Scala stage Roni himself, Grazio Mori, director Stefano Rabalia, and three young vocalists: Stefana Kibalova, Irena Cerboncini, and Alberto Gelmoni. Thus, the first attempt has already succeeded.
