Boris Statsenko is performing the part of Scarpia in Tosca at Chelyabnisk Opera Theater.
On September 21, the Chelyabinsk M. I. Glinka Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet will open the 47th theater season with a dazzling premier of last winter S. Prokofiev's Zolushka choreographed by Vladimir Vasiliev.
The next day the theater will hear G. Puccinis opera Tosca. Moreover, its leading parts, except for a female soloist of our opera theater, distinguished Russian artist Nadezhda Vorobeva (the part of Floria Tosca), will be performed this time by two invited guests German Opera on the Rhine baritone Boris Statsenko (the part of Baron Scarpia) and the young Bolshoi Theater tenor Konstantin Tolstobrov (the part of Mario Cavaradossi).
Boris Stetsenko is an artistic, sonorous, virtuoso baritone of world-class opera standards. His behavior on the stage is a characteristic example of a western producer, when even in the mise en scenes the performer, as they say, does not for a moment drop his character, thereby keeping the audience's attention riveted to himself.
At the same time, Boris Statsenko is practically our compatriot. Born in Korkino, he completed the Chelyabinsk Music School under German Gavrilov, then the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied under the famous Peter Skusnichenko, under whom he later completed his graduate studies. Boris Statsenko worked in the Chamber Music Theater under the direction of Boris Pokrovsky, and for four years in the Bolshoi Theater. Since 1984 he has been a soloist of the German Opera on the Rhine in the city of Düsseldorf, and simultaneously performs on the greatest opera grounds in the world.
This spring was Boris Statsenkos first time on the Chelyabinsk opera stage, performing the part of Figaro in the Barber of Seville. Currently he already holds a contract with our theater, according to which Tosca in its Chelyabisnk repertoire is number one on the list. On September 28 Boris Statsenko, accompanied by our theater's symphony orchestra, will perform the romances of P. Chaikovsky. He plans to dedicate this concert to his teacher from the Chelyabinsk Music School, German Konstantinovich Gavrilov.
A few words about the second soloist invited for Tosca, Konstantin Tolstobrov. This young man is a tenor of the Bolshoi Theater and laureate of international competitions. Born in Novokuznetsk, this will be his first time performing in Chelyabinsk. The dramatic role of the lyrical and mild artist Mario Cavaradossi is a convenient opportunity for him to make a good impression on Chelyabinsks admirers of opera.
